What reviewers say

Both praise image quality, the capable autofocus system and durable, well-sealed handling. Both criticise slow, noisy movie autofocus and the fixed screen. Camera Labs finds little sharpness advantage over the cheaper D5200 despite removing the low-pass filter, and considers the short RAW burst restrictive for action; Photography Blog sees a worthwhile overall upgrade with reliable exposure and colour.
