What reviewers say

The 1700X made eight-core performance affordable for rendering, encoding and other heavily threaded work. Reviewers found it close enough to the 1800X to make the more expensive chip difficult to justify. Gaming remained behind faster Intel alternatives in several tests, and the cheaper Ryzen 7 1700 could approach its performance when overclocked. It was most attractive to content creators who also played games.
