What reviewers say

Both praise robust construction, quiet autofocus and strong sharpness. SonyAlphaLab’s Alpha55 field test finds attractive blur and minor optical flaws; OpticalLimits’ full-frame test finds good resolution but outlined highlights, busy mid-range backgrounds and pronounced longitudinal colour fringing. Both benefit from stopping down, with different sensor formats and test scenes limiting direct comparison.
