What reviewers say

Both tests find strong central detail, low lateral colour fringing and wide-open corner shading that improves by F2.8. OpticalLimits finds strong stopped-down edges on an Alpha700; Photo Review finds softer edges using an Alpha850. Both describe audible autofocus and light plastic construction. OpticalLimits also finds longitudinal colour fringing and no direct manual focusing; Photo Review finds close-background blur busier than distant backgrounds.
