PhoneArena and Notebookcheck praised the XZ3's OLED screen, fast operation and distinctive glass design. Both found the battery life disappointing and the rear fingerprint reader awkwardly placed. PhoneArena also found the Side Sense shortcut distracting, while Notebookcheck reported accidental activation of the one-handed mode.
