What reviewers say

TechRadar and Les Numériques find the 65-inch Q9F bright and colourful, with strong LCD contrast, responsive gaming and a useful One Connect box. Both find its viewing angles narrow. TechRadar reports occasional backlight clouding and HDR colour banding, while Les Numériques saw little clouding on its sample but noticed the backlight changing brightness around subtitles.

Display

Panel
LED LCD
Panel detail
Flat quantum-dot LED-backlit LCD. TechRadar and Les Numériques identify the reviewed 65-inch panel as side edge-lit; Samsung's UK tables do not publish a native refresh rate or backlight layout for every size.
Resolution
3840 × 2160 (4K)
HDR formats
HDR10, HDR10+, HLG
HDR extras
Samsung's UK 65-inch table says QHDR 2000 and the 88-inch table QHDR 1500; these are product labels, not measured peak brightness. TechRadar says HLG and HDR10+ were awaiting firmware at review time. Samsung later confirmed HDR10+ on its 2017 UHD TV range through Prime Video; support from other sources is not established here.
Screen finish
Moth Eye anti-reflection treatment in both available UK maker tables.
Colour range
Samsung's 2017 QLED launch claimed 100% colour volume. Les Numériques measured strong colour on its exact European 65-inch unit but found its Cinema-mode colour error above its preferred threshold; neither figure is assigned to other sizes.
Picture processing
Q Engine, Supreme UHD Dimming, Auto Motion Plus and Picture Quality Index 3400 appear in the separate 65 and 88-inch UK tables. PQI is Samsung's processing score, not native panel Hz.
Picture modes
Film Mode, Auto Motion Plus and Contrast Enhancer in the UK maker tables. Les Numériques preferred Cinema mode with reduced dynamic processing on its 65-inch unit.
Motion handling
Les Numériques finds Auto Motion Plus effective on its 65-inch unit but suggests a custom setting to avoid the video-like interpolation effect. Samsung does not publish native Hz for both sizes in the UK tables, so the main refresh row is omitted.
Viewing angle
Both independent 65-inch reviews find visible loss of contrast and colour off-centre despite Samsung's Q Viewing Angle label.

21 ms in Game Mode and 76 ms in Cinema mode on the European 65-inch Les Numériques review unit; these measurements are not assigned to other sizes.

Design and power

Size
Without stand, width × height × depth: 65-inch 1449.7 × 829.3 × 24.9 mm; 88-inch 1979 × 1131 × 30.4 mm. Configuration weights exclude stand. Samsung UK also identifies 55 and 75-inch Q9F models; their UK model-specific spec tables were unavailable, so their figures are not inferred from the 65 or 88-inch tables.
Stand
Samsung's Simple Stand uses two feet on the 65-inch model. With-stand weight: 65-inch 30 kg; 88-inch 74.5 kg. The separate One Connect box holds inputs and has its own power cable; a thin optical lead joins it to the TV.
Power use
Maximum from each UK maker table: 65-inch 335 W; 88-inch 440 W.
Energy class
B in the old UK energy-label scale for both verified sizes; not today's A–G scale.
Colours
Charcoal Black front in both UK maker tables.
In the box
Samsung's UK maker tables list TM1790A Smart Control plus a TM1240A remote for UK/IE, power cable, manual and e-manual. No Gap wall mount is included with the 88-inch model but optional on the 65-inch.
