What reviewers say

AVForums and HDTVTest praised the 46-inch HX923's black levels and detailed 2D picture, while noting occasional haloing and side-angle limitations. Home Cinema Choice liked the 55-inch model's design and motion clarity but found visible bright strips at the sides of its sample; that issue should not be treated as a proven defect in every set.

Display

Panel: LED LCD
Panel detail: Sony's OptiContrast LCD with Gorilla Glass, Intelligent Peak LED backlight and local dimming. AVForums and HDTVTest describe the UK 46-inch sample as full-array local dimming; Home Cinema Choice calls its 55-inch unit edge lit, so the backlight layout is recorded as a source conflict rather than a series-wide fact.
Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (Full HD)
HDR formats: None
Picture processing: Sony X-Reality PRO, Live Colour, Advanced Contrast Enhancer and 24p True Cinema. Active shutter 3D is built in.
Motion handling: Sony UK lists 200 frames per second and Motionflow XR 800 for the 55-inch model; XR 800 is a processing label, not a native panel rate. A consistent native rate across all UK sizes was not verified.
Viewing angle: AVForums and Home Cinema Choice both found the picture loses contrast off-axis on their tested 46 and 55-inch samples.
