BYD's electric family hatchback, currently sold in the UK with a 60.4 kWh LFP Blade Battery and a 204 PS front motor, suited to buyers who want a well-equipped EV around the price of a Volkswagen ID.3.
Reviewers agree the Dolphin has a roomy, well-finished cabin, lots of standard equipment and brisk acceleration. The common criticisms are a small boot, slower charging than rivals and a dull drive that is less composed on undulating roads; Carwow thinks its current price makes the MG4 and Renault 4 better buys, and Auto Express found it noisy on the motorway.
Front permanent-magnet synchronous motor, 150 kW (204 PS); bhp converted from BYD's kW figure. The Design trim has the same powertrain; the 44.9 kWh Active and Boost versions are no longer listed on BYD's UK site
