Reviewers agree the Astra is a well-rounded, good-value family hatch with easy-to-use tech, efficient engines and tidy body control. Criticisms are a firm ride on poor roads, a cabin that is solid but drab and tight rear space; What Car? found it less rewarding to drive than a Seat Leon, and Autocar found the plug-in hybrid's gearbox overrides the paddles too readily.
