- CPU
- Consumer Combo and SuperDrive versions have a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 512 KB full-speed L2 cache and no L3 cache. The separate education-only CD or no-optical-drive configurations use 1.25 GHz and Radeon 9200 hardware; their figures are not applied to this consumer record.
- GPU
- ATI Radeon 9600 on an AGP 4× bus. The retained Apple support table prints 63 MB DDR video memory; contemporary AppleInsider launch coverage reports 64 MB. The discrepancy is retained rather than silently changing the maker table.
- Memory type
- 184-pin PC2700 DDR333 SDRAM in two slots; Combo includes 256 MB and SuperDrive includes 512 MB, expandable to Apple's stated 1 GB maximum. The guide also allows PC3200 DIMMs, running at DDR333 speed without a performance benefit.
- Storage type
- Ultra ATA/100 7200 rpm hard drive, 80 GB with Combo drive or 160 GB with SuperDrive. Combo reads DVDs and writes CDs. SuperDrive supports 8× DVD±R writing, 4× DVD±RW writing and 2.4× double-layer DVD+R writing.
Display
- Screen size
- 17″
- Resolution
- 1280 × 960
- Panel
- CRT
- Display type
- Flat 17-inch CRT with 16-inch viewable area. Apple's retained specification labels 1280 × 960 as native resolution; this is an analogue CRT supported mode rather than a fixed pixel matrix. A refresh figure is not published in this exact support sheet.

- Ethernet
- 0.1 Gb/s
- Wi-Fi
- Optional AirPort Extreme 802.11g
- Bluetooth

- External displays
- Mini-VGA RGB output supports display mirroring up to 1280 × 960; optional Apple Video Adaptor provides S-video or composite television output. Extended desktop is not supported.
- Speakers
- Built-in stereo speakers
- Microphones
- Built-in microphone at the upper left of the display
- Keyboard and mouse
- Apple Keyboard and Apple Mouse; the manufacturer's exact 2005 product image includes both.

- Size and weight detail
- Apple's metric specification gives 40.6 × 40.6 × 43.3 cm (height × width × depth) and 22.7 kg. These metric figures are retained; the inch values in the same table do not convert exactly.
- Power supply
- The user guide states that the eMac does not have a universal power supply. Check the voltage requirements printed inside the optical-drive door for the particular regional unit.
- Colours
- White
- In the box
- Computer, keyboard, mouse and AC cord; telephone cable where modem supplied. Launched with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Classic application support. May 2005 sale evidence comes from contemporary AppleInsider launch coverage, not the March printing date of the user guide.
