What reviewers say

Both find it a compact, affordable standard lens for DX cameras, with good autofocus and sharp results when stopped down. Both note visible colour fringing and the missing distance scale. Photography Blog likes its near-silent autofocus through the viewfinder but finds slower Live View focusing on its D5000 test body, and considers the features sparse. Digital Camera World highlights weaker sharpness at the widest and narrowest apertures and considers its background blur less smooth than that of many other fast primes.
