What reviewers say

Both praise its exceptionally small size, low weight, quick and quiet autofocus and useful stabilisation. They find strong central sharpness for a kit zoom but weaker edges, with Digital Camera World noting that distortion correction helps the results. Both flag the plastic construction; Photography Blog also found pronounced shading at wide apertures and flare when shooting into the sun.
