What reviewers say

Reviewers agree it packs Raspberry Pi 5 performance, two to three times the CM4, into a module that drops into most CM4 carrier boards, and passive cooling suffices for most uses. Jeff Geerling found it draws nearly twice the CM4's power at full load, Tom's Hardware found camera and display set-up fiddly at launch, and CNX Software hit a fan-at-shutdown firmware bug.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 2.4GHz Cortex-A76, the same processor as Raspberry Pi 5
  • Two USB 3.0 interfaces and PCIe Gen 2 x1
  • Same form factor as Compute Module 4

Cons

  • Needs a carrier board (such as the CM5 IO Board) for any ports
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and eMMC depend on the version bought
  • Lite versions have no eMMC and need an SD card slot on the carrier board
