What reviewers say

Reviewers agree it is a big speed boost over the original Zero, close to a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ according to CNX Software, in the same tiny board, making it a cheap drop-in upgrade for projects, and it stays cool without a heatsink. The common criticism is that 512 MB of memory limits desktop use; Wired noted GPIO pins must be soldered on.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Quad-core 64-bit CPU, about 5× Zero in multi-threaded sysbench (maker's figure)
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 built in
  • Drop-in replacement for Zero W; fits most Zero cases

Cons

  • 512MB of memory
  • 2.4GHz-only Wi-Fi
  • One micro USB data port; GPIO header not fitted unless bought with headers
