The 2024 A5 Saloon, a mid-size four-door fastback that replaces the A4 saloon, sold with petrol, mild-hybrid diesel and plug-in hybrid engines plus the S5 and the plug-in hybrid RS 5, suited to buyers who want a premium executive saloon with a hatchback boot lid.

What reviewers say

Reviewers agree the A5 is a refined, comfortable and roomy executive car that is easy to drive, with a useful hatchback boot opening. The common criticisms are an interior that feels less solid and more touchscreen-reliant than the old A4's, a smaller boot than rivals' and handling that is less engaging than a BMW 3 Series; Auto Express found prices high.
