What reviewers say

Both find the broad zoom range useful for travel and everyday subjects, with manageable weight and good general image quality. Both see some loss of fine detail at 400 mm and limitations in poor light from the small maximum aperture. Amateur Photographer finds focusing slower across large distance changes and in low-contrast conditions; TechRadar generally finds it quick and accurate. They favour the convenience of one lens over carrying several, while recognising that specialised lenses offer better results in demanding situations.
