What reviewers say

Both find excellent sharpness and autofocus in a lens that is unusually manageable for its focal length, with comfortable handheld use and strong construction. Both consider it expensive and note the modest f/6.3 aperture. Digital Camera World praises reliable tracking of erratic subjects and very little colour fringing. TechRadar finds effective stabilisation and pleasing background blur, but misses an on-lens VR switch and questions the limits of Nikon's qualified weather resistance claim.
