What reviewers say

Both praise excellent sharpness, smooth background blur, fast quiet autofocus and improved handling from the weight reduction. Both consider it expensive but a meaningful improvement over the original. ePHOTOzine found strong flare resistance and little visible colour fringing, while noting the hood's filter-window cover opens too easily. TechRadar liked its closer focusing and travel usability, but sees less reason to upgrade for owners who are comfortable with the older lens's weight.
