What reviewers say
iXBT and What Mobile's review at The Register praise the long battery life and useful business features. Both find Bluetooth and mobile data valuable, while noting the limited and expensive Bluetooth accessories available at the time. Their keypad opinions differ; iXBT likes the revised layout but dislikes the hard-to-read legends, while What Mobile finds the closely spaced buttons difficult to distinguish by touch and long menu scrolling tiring. What Mobile reports no crashes in ten days; these are contemporary tests, not evidence of current software or accessory availability.
Backlit monochrome graphic LCD; 96 × 65 pixels from iXBT's exact original-model review, filling a gap in the retrieved maker guides. No inferred physical diagonal or pixel density.

Battery life detail
Removable BPS-2 lithium-polymer pack, 1,100 mAh in Nokia's original announcement. The announcement claims three hours talk and up to twenty days standby; contemporary What Mobile quotes up to five and a half hours talk and eighteen days standby. These differing claims are retained rather than combined into a single runtime. Actual endurance depends on network and use.
Wired charging
Proprietary charger connection; the exact German user guide gives approximately two hours and forty-five minutes for the BPS-2 pack with an ACP-8 charger. No inferred charging wattage.

Software features
WAP 1.2.1, SMS and picture messages, predictive text, calendar, to-do list, wallet, timed profiles, voice dialling and commands, voice recorder, alarm, calculator, stopwatch, countdown timer and games, exact maker guide. SyncML was mentioned in the announcement but is not established by the retrieved operating guide and is not claimed here. WAP and historical online services are distinct from a modern browser.
Release detail
Nokia announced the original 6310 on 21 March 2001 for sale in the fourth quarter. Contemporary December 2001 coverage also describes a fourth-quarter launch, while the February 2002 iXBT review describes recent European sales and later Russian distribution. The exact first retail month remains unresolved, so only 2001 is recorded; regional rollouts must not be treated as a universal date.
Performance
Memory
The exact maker guide supports up to 500 handset names with three numbers and one text item per name; allocating up to five numbers and four text items reduces the number of names. SIM capacity depends on the card. These entry counts are not an unpublished storage capacity in GB; RAM and persistent storage capacity are omitted.
Connectivity
Mobile network
EGSM 900 and GSM 1800, exact NPE-4 maker guide. GPRS and HSCSD supported; the original 6310 is dual-band, unlike the later tri-band 6310i. Network services and compatible computer software are required.
SIM
Removable SIM behind the battery, exact maker guide; guide says 5 V SIM cards are unsupported.
Bluetooth
Integrated Bluetooth for compatible data and hands-free accessories, with a range of approximately ten metres in the maker announcement. Bluetooth version is omitted because the retrieved exact operating guide does not specify it; the version of an accessory is not substituted.
USB
Infrared and optional compatible data cable for computer communication, plus proprietary charger and accessory connectors, exact maker guide. Original PC Suite availability is not claimed current.
