What reviewers say

All About Symbian, Mobile-review and The Register's Pocket-lint review praise the conventional keypad, useful camera and strong connectivity. All About Symbian likes the photographs and speaker but finds internal memory cramped, with applications closing under memory pressure. Mobile-review criticises short battery life and initial case fit. Both encounter some reboots; The Register's review unit remains stable. The Register and All About Symbian find the camera cover flimsy, and The Register warns that opening it bypasses the keypad lock and can cause accidental pocket photographs.

Display

Resolution
208 × 176
Panel
LCD
Display type
Active-matrix LCD with 176 × 208 pixels and 262,144 colours, original consumer specifications. Native refresh rate and physical diagonal are not published in the recovered maker specifications.
Brightness detail
Automatic display brightness control, original consumer specifications. No brightness in nits published.

Performance

Storage
10 MB
Memory
10 MB of internal dynamic memory shared by contacts, messages, photographs, videos, calendar and applications. This is user storage, not RAM. All About Symbian's less than 8 MB free application memory after boot is a tested remaining-memory figure, not a physical RAM capacity.
Storage type
Hot-swappable reduced-size dual-voltage MMC. Reader operates at 1.8 V and requires cards supporting both 1.8 V and 3.0 V. Original standard package lists a 64 MB card; Nokia explicitly notes variation by market and network operator. No maximum supported card capacity inferred.

Front camera
Front VGA camera with 640 × 480-pixel photographs. Supports stills, video and two-way video calls, subject to compatible services.
Zoom
Rear 6× and front 2× digital zoom, original consumer specifications. Digital zoom is not optical zoom.
Video recording
3GPP recording at up to 176 × 144 pixels. The recovered original guide prints the lower-resolution option as 128 × 196; the later English guide prints 128 × 96. Maximum recording length is up to one hour per clip subject to memory; short MMS clips are limited to 300 kB, with some networks accepting only 100 kB. Playback codec support is separate from capture resolution.
Camera features
Still and video editing, Movie Director and Nokia XpressPrint. PictBridge USB, Bluetooth printing and compatible MMC printers or kiosks; availability depends on compatible external equipment.

Battery and charging

Battery
900 mAh
Wireless charging
None
Battery life detail
Removable 900 mAh BL-5C lithium-ion battery. Nokia specifies up to 2.2–3.3 hours of WCDMA talk, 3–6 hours of GSM talk and 6–11 days of standby, dependent on operator network configuration and radio technology.
Wired charging
Separate charger connector, with ACP-12 travel charger in the original standard package. Maker specifies 1 hour 15 minutes using ACP-12 or LCH-12. USB data transfer does not establish USB charging.

Design

Type
Standard
Weight
133 g
Thickness
20.5 mm
Height × width
108.4 × 55.2 mm
Weight detail
Consumer specification and original announcement give 108.4 × 55.2 × 20.5 mm and 133 g. Forum Nokia instead gives 21.2 mm thickness; the Danish brochure gives 21.3 mm. Consumer figure retained with the conflicting maker figures recorded rather than averaged.
Buttons
Five-way navigation control, two soft keys, application, edit, clear and call keys, with a conventional numeric keypad. Sliding rear camera cover activates the camera and deactivates an existing keypad lock; closing it restores that lock, original guide.
Water resistance detail
Original guide explicitly says the device is not water-resistant. No IP rating assigned.
Speakers
Integrated hands-free loudspeaker, voice recorder and stereo music player supporting MP3 and AAC. Stereo headset connects through Pop-Port; no built-in FM radio inferred from the optional radio headset.

Software

Operating system
Symbian
Software at launch
Symbian OS 8.0a with S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 2, exact Forum Nokia specifications. Installable Symbian applications and Java MIDP 2.0 / CLDC 1.1 applications.
Software features
Active standby, contacts, calendar, email with document attachments, WAP 2.0 XHTML/HTML browser, RealPlayer and local or remote synchronisation. Quickoffice and other memory-card applications vary by market. Original network services, PC software and downloads are historical capabilities, not a claim that their infrastructure remains available.

Bluetooth 1.2. Compatible image, video, contact and PC transfers; Basic Printing Profile and Human Interface Device support through Nokia's printing and Wireless Keyboard applications. No modern audio codec inferred.
