What reviewers say
All About Symbian and GSMArena praise the multimedia features, useful daylight photographs and music playback. GSMArena likes the solid body and small keypad, but criticises slow responses, poor close-up photographs and fragile card-slot and camera covers. All About Symbian finds the FM reception weak and low-light video noisy; both describe the screen resolution as dated. GSMArena also criticises the alarm and short voice recorder. Both see limited reason for existing 6630 or 6680-series owners to upgrade.
176 × 208-pixel active-matrix display with up to 262,144 colours and automatic ambient-light adjustment, original maker consumer specifications. Physical diagonal, native refresh and brightness in nits omitted where not published by these maker sources.
Performance
Storage
30 MB
Memory
Up to 30 MB dynamic shared internal storage, original consumer specifications. The September 2005 brochure instead states up to 22 MB; installed software and free user space differ. Neither figure establishes physical RAM. Contemporary reviews report free operational memory, not a verified installed RAM capacity.
Storage type
Hot-swappable reduced-size dual-voltage 1.8/3 V MMC card; original consumer package lists a 64 MB card, with market variation. English guide explicitly excludes SD cards. No unpublished maximum card capacity inferred.

Main camera
2 MP rear camera, 1600 × 1200 pixels, sliding protective lens cover and dedicated shutter key. Built-in LED flash with up to 1.5 m range, original maker specifications and brochure.
Front camera
VGA 640 × 480-pixel secondary camera for photographs, video and video calls. The 0.3 MP headline rounds the published pixel count; original N70-1/RM-84, not a no-front-camera regional variant.
Zoom
Up to 20× digital zoom for rear photographs and 2× for front photographs; no optical zoom.
Video recording
High mode records CIF 352 × 288 MP4; Normal and Sharing use QCIF 176 × 144 3GPP, original English guide. High recording is limited by free storage and one hour per clip. Normal clips have a 300 kB limit, approximately 20 seconds; network MMS limits may be lower. Playback codecs do not establish camera frame rate.
Camera features
Still, sequence and video modes, selectable scene, white-balance and colour settings, self-timer and image editing. Nokia XpressPrint supports compatible PictBridge USB printers, Bluetooth printing and card-based printing.

Battery life detail
Removable BL-5C lithium-ion battery, 970 mAh and up to 3.5 hours talk or 11 days standby, original consumer specification table; network and use affect life. Exact English guide confirms BL-5C compatibility.
Wired charging
Separate small Nokia charger connector; original package lists AC-4 charger and CA-44 adapter for older chargers. Pop-Port USB data does not establish USB charging or charging watts.

Software
Operating system
Symbian
Software at launch
Symbian OS 8.1a with Series 60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 3, full GSMArena review. The original maker guide documents installable Symbian applications and Java support.
Software features
Contacts, calendar, email, web browser, document viewers, image/video editing, music playback, Visual Radio and PC Suite synchronisation. Original services and compatible network support are historical; no promise that retired online services still operate.
Release detail
Maker shipping statement dated 28 September 2005 says deliveries have started. Full October 2005 retail review confirms market presence, but these sources do not establish the worldwide first retail day or month; year precision retained. Original N70-1/RM-84 hardware. No unsupported direct predecessor link.
In the box
Original consumer package: phone, BL-5C battery, AC-4 charger, CA-44 charger adapter, HS-3 stereo headset, CA-53 USB cable, 64 MB dual-voltage RS-MMC with full-size adapter, software CD and documentation; bundles vary by market.
Connectivity
Mobile network
WCDMA 2100 MHz and GSM/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz, original consumer specifications. WCDMA claims up to 128 kbps upload and 384 kbps download; GPRS/EGPRS class B multislot 10. Video calls and data depend on compatible networks and services.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth Specification 1.2, exact original English N70-1/RM-84 guide, including printing, headset, hands-free, object/file transfer and HID profiles. Archived Danish consumer page and brochure label it 2.0, conflicting with the exact guide; the guide governs this record.
USB
Pop-Port USB full-speed PC connection and PictBridge printing, supplied CA-53 cable. Consumer page calls it USB 2.0 full-speed while the brochure labels it USB 1.2 full-speed; no high-speed transfer inferred. PC Suite also connects over Bluetooth.
