Engine or motorsTesla’s 2021+ GB guide specifies permanent-magnet synchronous motors at both axles; Plaid has carbon-fibre-wrapped rotors and two rear motors. The listed later European EV Database versions have 504 kW (Dual Motor) and 760 kW (Plaid), converted to 676 and 1,019 bhp. These are not asserted as every launch-market specification.Dual-motor all-wheel drive or Plaid with three motors and carbon-sleeved rotors. Current UK maker peak claims are 670 hp and 1,020 hp, based on acceleration testing, simulation and battery limits.
GearboxSingle-speed fixed gear; front 7.56:1, rear 9.04:1 (Plaid 7.56:1)–
DriveAll-wheel driveThe 2025 physical refresh adds revised and retuned air suspension, new comfort components, greater noise isolation and sound-absorbing interior materials. New 20- and 22-inch wheel designs and low-resistance tyres improve efficiency.
Range and charging
Fastest charging–250 kW
Zero-emission range (WLTP)337–358 miles–
Range detailEV Database’s specified European versions: 576 km (358 miles) WLTP combined for Dual Motor; 328–337 miles for Plaid depending on test energy configuration. Plaid’s maker-reported 2.6-second 0–62 mph claim excludes rollout. Its adjusted 2.9-second database figure is estimated, so neither is entered as an unqualified main acceleration figure.UK maker page estimates 403 miles for Dual Motor and 378 miles for Plaid without explicitly labelling these configuration figures WLTP. Main WLTP range is therefore omitted; US EPA estimates and review highway tests use different conditions. Current US maker EPA estimates: 352 miles Dual Motor and 335 miles Plaid; these are separate regional ratings, not WLTP.
ChargingEV Database lists 11 kW AC for the specified European versions. Its 250 kW DC limits and 95 kWh usable capacities are marked estimates and omitted. Tesla’s 2021+ guide gives 407 V nominal high-voltage battery voltage.Maximum 250 kW Supercharging; actual charging rate depends on battery temperature, state of charge and charger.
EfficiencyWLTP rated 191 Wh/km (Dual Motor), 335 Wh/mile (Plaid) (EV Database)Current UK product page: 18.3 kWh/100 km Dual Motor; 19.3 kWh/100 km Plaid. German maker labels distinguish these current values from the older 2022–2025 versions at 19.1/20.8.
CO2 emissions0 g/km0 g/km tailpipe CO₂; UK maker page lists CO₂ efficiency class A.

BootTesla’s GB 2021+ guide: five seats have 1,050 litres behind the second row or 2,410 with it folded. Six seats have 425 behind the third row, 935 with it folded or 2,431 behind the front seats in maximum cargo position. Seven seats have 425 behind the third row, 957 with it folded or 2,314 behind the front seats. A separate 183-litre front boot is not added to the rear boot field. Maximum folded volumes are not all-seats-up capacity.Current US manual: five-seat rear boot 1,111 litres; six- and seven-seat layouts 420 litres behind the occupied third row. All have an additional 183-litre front trunk. With third row folded: six-seat 996 litres; seven-seat 1,018 litres. Six-seat second row moves to maximum cargo position rather than folding flat. Its 2,675-litre maximum includes the front trunk, third row folded and second row moved forward, with only driver and front passenger; it is not Plaid boot space with six occupants.
TowingEV Database lists up to 2,300 kg braked for the specified European Dual Motor version, or 2,250 kg for Plaid, with the required towing equipment.UK maker claims 2,300 kg Dual Motor and 2,250 kg Plaid.
Size5,057 mm long, 1,999 mm wide (2,271 mm with mirrors), 1,680 mm high with the air suspension at medium; 2,965 mm wheelbase; 12.3 m turning circle (Tesla owner's manual)Current US manual: 2,271 mm wide with mirrors, 2,965 mm wheelbase; height 1,680 mm at medium suspension or 1,720 mm at highest setting. Current UK curb mass: 2,348 kg Dual Motor and 2,470 kg Plaid. Main acceleration uses German maker 0–100 km/h figures; Plaid’s 2.6 seconds subtracts rollout. The refresh also increases third-row shoulder room. The current US maker dual-motor top speed is 155 mph, differing from the UK 149 mph specification.
Release and generation detailsTesla’s official 17 October 2021 post confirms first deliveries of the new Model X; contemporaneous Electrek coverage dates the initial California handovers to 16 October, so the main date retains October precision. Tesla’s January 2021 update explicitly says the preceding Performance versions of Model S and Model X were replaced by tri-motor Plaid, supporting the 2019-generation link without claiming every version ceased sale immediately. European numerical configurations here followed later and are distinct from the 2025 physical refresh. The physical refresh was announced in Tesla’s US article on 12 June 2025 and described in a regional article dated 27 October 2025. Neither publication establishes an exact first customer-delivery date, so year precision is retained. This entry covers the refreshed hardware and current regional configurations; its 2026 model-year naming does not mean a separate generation. Tesla’s Q2 2026 investor report states the Model S and Model X production lines were decommissioned; remaining stock is distinct from ongoing manufacture. The current US maker page also states Model X is no longer in production; remaining pre-owned inventory may still be available.
Tech and safety
InfotainmentCentre touchscreen, driver display and a rear touchscreen; yoke or steering wheel; no Apple CarPlay or Android AutoCurrent UK page lists 17.4-inch front and 9.4-inch rear touchscreens plus driver instrument display; 22-speaker/960 W audio, dynamic ambient lighting, heated seats, front-seat ventilation, three-zone climate control and HEPA filtration. Display sizes describe current specifications, not asserted initial June equipment.
Driver assistance–The refresh adds a front fascia camera, blind-spot indicator and adaptive headlights. Tesla Vision provides camera-based driving and parking assistance. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) requires active supervision and depends on regional availability; it is not autonomous driving.
Warranty–UK: basic vehicle 4 years/50,000 miles; battery and drive unit 8 years/150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
